Good friendly work out for Goole
Goole RUFC continued their on-field preparations for the new season with a narrow, but deserved, 8-7 win over Pocklington at Westfield Banks last Thursday evening.
Goole played their best rugby against the wind as the game was splayed in four quarters rather than two halves and despite the elements in their faces, their best attacking play came in those spells.
Pocklington, who are higher placed in the league system now, were good opposition for a side that is full of confidence and the performance spoke volumes for the fitness work undertaken by the squad in the close season, together with the acquisition of one or two talented new players.
Goole were hoping to have a joint session with Selby RUFC through the Wilson brothers connection in both camps, and they are also looking for another game under their belts before the season proper on September 13.
