Footballing initiative in the twilight zone
A new football initiative aimed at young people is being launched by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
The Twilight Football project is a series of informal five-a-side football sessions, which will run on Friday evenings in Beverley, Bridlington, Goole and Withernsea.
The sessions are aimed at engaging young people aged between 14 - 19 years, and reducing the potential for anti-social behaviour. Young people will be encouraged to organise their own teams and set their own rules and boundaries of behaviour before, during and after the sessions.
The sessions will be delivered by the council's sport and play development service, with support from local community support officers. The project is a joint partnership between East Riding of Yorkshire Council, Humberside Police, the Humber Sports Partnership, the East Riding County FA and the East Riding Positive Futures Project.
The project in Beverley will be held at the Molescroft Park Pavilion multi-sport court on Woodhall Way on October 3 and 31, November 14 and December 12 and at Swinemoor multi-sport court on Queens Road on September, October 17 and November 28. All sessions will run from 8 - 10pm.
Sessions in Bridlington will be held at the new astro-turf pitch at the Sports College, on September 26, October 10 and 24, November 7 and 21 and December 5. All sessions will run from 8 - 10pm
Sessions in Goole will be held once a month, initially at Goole Sports Centre astro-turf pitch, from 7.30 - 9.30pm on October 3 and 31 and November 28.
The project will run in Withernsea at the Pavilion Leisure Centre, from 8 - 10pm, on October 10, November 7 and December 5.
