Holah ignites the sparks in reply
North Ferriby 160-7
Airmyn 161-5
Airmyn's recent resurgence continued as league leaders, Ferriby, suffered their first defeat of the season against the village side.
Ferriby were without a couple of regulars but so were the Percy Arms outfit who played some of their best cricket for a good long while.
Airmyn's returning protégé, Will Sparks, and the fit again Lee Clark, were in excellent form. Though it took all of 28 overs and 101 runs to take a wicket, Ferriby had found runs hard to come by for long periods thanks to the excellent bowling of the pair.
When the breakthrough did come the floodgates opened with Airmyn's fielders providing near faultless support. Excellent catches from Holah and Thurlow gave Clark two wickets and evergreen Glyn Catterall ran out two further batsmen either side of a Sparks yorker which left Ferriby floundering on 114-5.
An outstanding one-handed flying catch by Jack Drakeley accounted for danger man Jubb (68) giving Sparks his second wicket.
A late flurry led by skipper Judah helped Ferriby toward 160, before Clark's third wicker ended the innings. Airmyn's innings started rather too briskly, with Holah running partner Smith out for just four.
However, he began to quickly make amends continuing his run of form, and was ably assisted by Rich Stevens, who of late has looked more Kevin Pietersen than Kevin the Gerbil than he has for a long time.
Perhaps expecting easy victory, the Ferriby spirit seemed to be broken by their 71-run partnership, and when Stevens did go for 30, Lee Clark arrived at the cross with a flurry of boundaries to maintain the momentum.
However, there was still time for some anxiety to creep in. Clark went for 27 and then P. Sparks (0) and W. Sparks (12) fell soon after, buoying Ferriby's mood.
Holah, though, was immovable and fittingly brought up Airmyn's victory with a beautiful square drive as he finished unbeaten on 74, G. Clark (10 not out) briefly supporting.
