Without being unkind to the visitors to Westfield on Sunday afternoon, this York Vale League Division Five clash was one-sided - totally so, in fact.

However, that should not detract from a dominant and thorough mission completed by Goole's third string as they demolished visitors Huntington by 182 runs.

And the star of the show for the hosts, young Danny Cooper, who has been showing excellent form with the bat for several weeks now, got his rewards with a century - Goole's first-ever York Vale century.

He was third man out at 273, sharing stands of 61 with opener and captain Chris Sugden, 134 with Dan Neal and 82 with Rob Jacobs before holing out in the heat for 104.

Neal made 62 and even the extras went through the half-century mark, 55 in total as 10-man Huntington took a real battering.

The home side did make a cautious start, only 11 in the first five overs, but after that it was carnage and 176 came in the last twenty overs.

Cooper's innings had fourteen fours and Neal hit nine boundaries, although surprisingly in such a big total there were no sixes hit.

Huntington, with only 10 men, never had a chance as Mark Hinchcliffe, David West and Ashton Nottingham took two wickets each and all the bowlers were given a chance as victory was completed in the 27th over.

Scott Biggs, Jack Knowles, and then Jason Greaves, with his second ball, accounted for Esdale to finish the match.

Esdale with 31 and opener Hossfird with 13 reached double figures and Goole cemented their place at the top of York Vale League Five with the season reaching the final quarter.

They face Stockton and Hopgrove this Saturday, and also have rivals Carlton Towers to face as they look to remain unbeaten.

And they will play their cup final in the Premier Cup against Bishopthorpe at Hemingbrough on Sunday, August 17.
