Pictured is Keagan Guest (13), who is making waves in the sporting world after becoming the fifth fastest in his age group at a recent Scottish National Open Swimming Championship.

The teenage swimming star, a pupil at Trinity Academy in Thorne, was among the top performers at the event, finishing the 100-metre breaststroke in a time of 1.24.86.

He was also placed a respectable 35th overall, out of 71 competitors at the event in Glasgow.

Keagan said: "I've been into swimming for as long as I can remember. I was pleased with my performance at the Scottish National Championships, especially as the standard of the competition was so high and now I just want to keep getting better."

Keagan has also recently competed in several events at the North Eastern Counties regional championships in Sheffield and won a bronze medal in the 50m breaststroke at a county championship event.

Ian Brew, the principal of Trinity Academy, said: "Keagan is an extremely talented young swimmer and we're proud to be associated with his excellent performances in the pool.

"At just 13 years old he clearly has a bright future ahead of him and we look forward to seeing his ability develop further over time."

In the future Keagan, a member of Doncaster DARTES and a Thorne swimming club, hopes to forge a career out of his talent and he doesn't plan on resting any time soon, with with another A/B Gala event coming up at Shipley. (17-07-07 SU)
