Beverley took the field as the weather clouded over and the rain began to fall, but excellent fielding and bowling from Hannah Matthews (0 - 9 off 7 overs), Punit Gill (2- 31) Vickie English (1-6) Â Georgia Brown (1-14) and the reliable 12 year old, Hannah McCoid (1-12 ) restricted the visitors to 131-6.
The other wicket was a run out when Louise Todd and Keeper Laura Wilson combined to dismiss the visiting skipper Carla Watlon (73) with 2 balls to go.
When Beverley took the field after tea the weather had improved, but after losing two quick wickets the visitors thought their total was defendable.
But it was not to be, as Laura Wilson hit an unbeaten 73 to record her best score for Beverley this season. She was well supported by 14-year-old Helen Craig (38), who was dropped on a number of occasions before being bowled Verity Bent.
These two had steered the Beavers from 20-2 to 119-3 and it was left to Hannah Matthews to finish the game. Beverley winning by seven wickets.
Peter Todd the Beverley and East Yorkshire Coach said: "A sound display in the field was followed by a great stand of 99 between Laura and Helen but things could have been a lot different if Aston had held on to their catches. It was a good lesson to the Beverley girls who are beginning to see the value in fielding practice."
Beverley is still on the lookout for new players especially the younger age group (7-15). Training is every Tuesday evening at Norwood Park 6-8 pm.
