A sparkling 6-4 win over Vic Casuals took pre-season favourites Half Moon of Reedness to the top of Division Two of the Goole Pool League for the first time this season.

Joe Eastwood, Liam Cooper and Vinnie Walsh all displayed characteristics of champions with this powerful display over the side which has led from week one.

Despite losing points for non-return of scorecards, Jailhouse Jokers could be Half Moon's most serious challenger after bringing North Eastern Flyers down to earth with a 9-1 mauling, starring the undefeated Martin Coolledge, Jamie Hughes and Bobby Bundy.

Cary Dean was happy to escape with a 7-3 success in their extremely tricky fixture with Middle House Lasses, who don't lie down easily. The Terrible Threesome of Becca Marritt, Julia Howard and Maxine Johnson yet again got themselves in the winners' enclosure.

The second ladies' side in this division had a bit of a nightmare this week, losing 10-0 against a very strong Bottom House Brigade admirably led by Brian Knight.

Jailhouse Jesters showed much improved form by beating Packet Pups 6-4, with good shows from Elliott Houghton and Andrew Brown.

Brilliant play from Gordon Gaughan helped Vermuyden Vultures to an unexpected but thoroughly deserved 6-4 win over Royal Predators in this week's Division One. Vermuyden trailed 3-2 at half-time but completely shattered the visitors by winning the next five frames. Although on the losing side, Jake Modi of Royal looked like a young lad who would soon be Premiership bound.

Marshland Menaces returned to form with a 7-3 victory over North Eastern Newbies, thanks mainly to four excellent winning frames from Mike Lumley and new signing Keith Preston.

Shipwrecks had only a crew of four but fought bravely to hold N.U.R. Clubbers to a 5-all draw in a tit-for-tat contest in which Neil Oldridge and Joe Holt starred.

Emma Longster was totally delighted by her Packet Panthers 6-4 triumph over Royal Flush. Wins by John Sands and Adam White certainly didn't help the Royal, whose hopes are to attain promotion to the top division.

Board Inn Bandits are a joy to watch at present and this week drew nine points clear after knocking the heart out of the very capable Viking Wizards by beating them 8-2. "Deadly" Dean Logan lost his first frame to James Snead but hit back in a way that only the top players are capable of by performing an eight-ball clearance in his second frame!

Only three teams have played really well in the Premiership Division so far this season and it will take something special from any of the others to stop one of these being crowned champions. Buchanan Badstars are carrying on where they left off last season and go four points clear at the top with a 7-3 win over Creykes Tigers, where once again the great winning form of Natalie Merrill and Ivor Morris continued.

Dan Neal is the find of the season for the Premiership's only unbeaten side, Buchanan Badboys, who slaughtered N.U.R. Neanderthals 8-2. The third side playing well is The Verm, who had to pull out all the stops to beat the underestimated Peacock Pirates 6-4 where team captains Andy Hurson and Colin Hall were the best players on show.

Shipmates and Middle House Mavericks have both been under a cloud so far and a 5-all draw was a fair result between them, while Packet Hasbeens deservedly edged a 6-4 win over Bottom House Bombers in a game where play can only be described as ordinary.
