Badboys, good boys as champs beat
Although beating the reigning champions 6-4, Buchanan Badboys felt disappointed as they actually led previously unbeaten Verm 5-1 at one stage, mainly due to excellent play from Anthony Raspin and Andy Merrill in last week's round of Summer Pool league matches.
Wayne Vause was the only Verm player who showed some grit by winning both his frames.
Chris Clark, Scott Walker and Anthony Masterman were on fire for Shipmates in their battling 6-4 win over Bottom House Bombers, who were short on luck and are finding life very tough at present.
Packet Hasbeens rolled back the years with an uplifting 6-4 win away to the previously unbeaten Creykes Tigers of Rawcliffe.
Neil Buck, Sean Broadhead and Andy Waters showed they are still a match for the up and coming youngsters, with some superb play.
Peacock Pirates were made to walk the gangplank by Buchanan Badstars, who were ruthlessly led to an 8-2 win by exceptional play from Natalie Merrill and Mark Whiteley.
In Division One Board Inn Bandits of Howden stayed top with a very good 7-3 win over Shipwrecks. Tom Jackson, Gary Yates and the magnificent Dean Logan proved far too classy for the Swinefleet lads, whose best performer was the two-frame winner Frank Hoodless.
The boys from The Royal pub of Aire Street threw their cap in the ring as the two sides that will surely push Board Inn hardest this season.
Liam Parry's Royal Flush beat North Eastern Newbies 7-3 whilst Stef Walker helped his Royal Predators to a resounding 8-2 win over Marshland Menaces.
If Board Inn win this division, as expected, then it will surely be a "battle royal" to see which other side joins them in getting promotion to the Premiership.
The other two games in this division both finished all square at five games apiece. N.U.R. Clubbers and Vermuyden Vultures' games were nip and tuck all the way, whereas Packet Panthers fought back bravely to tie with the very talented Viking Wizards.
Vic Casuals look to have been generously positioned in Division Two and duly recorded their third win on the bounce by beating North Eastern Flyers 7-3 in a smashing game, where wins by Thomas Prime and Simon Newton stood out.
Half Moon of Reedness go second following a starring performance by Joe Eastwood in their 6-4 win over Bottom House Brigade who are starting to play much better.
Packet Pups thoroughly deserved their first win when beating Charter Cheddars 8-2 whilst Jailhouse Jokers stopped smiling as Middle House Lasses, who trailed 6-0 proceeded to win the last four frames through Alana Harris, Julia Howard, Becca Marritt and Maxine Johnson. Well done, ladies!
For fun only!
Kelly Kendall took on 12 individuals at Killer Pool on Saturday evening at the Marshlands and walked away victorious, after beating Craig in the final with a fantastic two-ball pot.
