Gilberdyke 1st X1 180-7
Pelican 1st X1 183-3
On losing the toss, Gilberdyke were asked to bat first in Saturday's East Yorkshire Alliance League clash with Pelican.
Good tight bowling from the Hull side saw them struggle to 37-2 after 13 overs.
Wilde was removed from his first ball and Gilberdyke were under further pressure, however a good partnership of 66 between opener Bell (40) and Pettican saw them reach 103-4 with ten overs remaining.
A second partnership of 60 between Pettican and Mell was ended when the latter was removed for 24.
However, Pettican continued his stroke play before he was removed for 65 in his first innings of the season.
It helped them to a healthy total of 180-7 after their 40 overs with the Pelican's best bowlers, Smedley 3-47 and Dawson 3-43.
In reply they reached 36 in the seventh over before Butler removed opener M. Smedley for nine.
Gilberdyke captured two quick wickets in the 14th and 15th overs, reducing Pelican to 70-3 but that was the last success the local side had with Kaye (41no) and A. Rolston (58 no) making the bowling toil and the target was reached with five overs remaining. Gilberdyke's best bowling came from Waston, 1-23 from 10 overs, but the rest conceded 13 no balls and 16 wides which only helped Pelican in their comfortable win.
