With their best player Rob Fallon on holiday and having only four other players available, N.U.R. Neanderthals were flattened 10-0 by reigning Premiership champions as the Verm turned in another faultless display to scare off any sides with delusions of stealing their crown, writes Vic Erwin.

This was top-drawer stuff from Pettican, Swan, Hurson and Harrison, who know what is required to win the top division. They are already up and running, with two wins from two games, whilst the other top sides are still experimenting to find their best formation.

Creykes Tigers look solid this season and recorded their second 7-3 win on the trot when beating Middle House Mavericks. Kev Morrell and Roly Curley were the best players on show in this cracking match.

Shipmates of Swinefleet were pushed to the limit to beat the ultra-consistent Buchanan Badstars 6-4, while Buchanan Badboys won 6-4 against Bottom House Bombers.

Players of note in these two games were Pip Schofield, Ivor Morris, Anthony Myers and Kraig Barnes.

Neil Buck inspired Packet Hasbeens to a welcome 6-4 win over Peacock Pirates, who started poorly but won the last three frames.

In Division One Royal Predators did themselves proud when narrowly beaten 6-4 by Board Inn Bandits, who now go top of the table. Jake Modi, Steph Walker and Co. have proved they are comfortable in this grade following last seasons promotion. The unbeaten Claire Lloyd was yet again the saviour of Shipwrecks when winning the final frame for a 6-4 triumph over the luckless Royal Flush.

North Eastern Newbies made it two victories in succession by beating Packet Panthers 6-4 while thanks to some great play from James Snead, Viking Wizards got a 6-4 first win of the season over Vermuyden Vultures. New signings Danny Smith and Niall Barker were a godsend for Marshland Menaces in their 7-3 win away to N.U.R. Clubbers.

Unfortunately, only three of the five result cards were returned in Division Two. League newcomers Vic Casuals go top on fourteen points following a decisive 8-2 win over the lasses of Middle House. Becca Marritt and Maxine Johnson were the two lady winners whereas Thomas Prime and James Hewson of Vic Club look to have a bright future ahead.

Half Moon were pre-season favourites to win this division and move into second spot following their 6-4 victory over Jailhouse Jesters while Cary Dean's Old Goole Club and Matthew Jones Packet Pups were very evenly matched in their five-all draw.

Captains note

Winning captains are reminded that result cards must be returned to The Steam Packet by 2pm of the Saturday following the midweek game.
