Cowick Rangers U13s 6

Cowick Rangers travelled to bottom club Ulleskelf in difficult conditions on a windswept morning.

Despite the conditions, Rangers took the lead when Nicky Fletcher scored with a left-foot shot which took a wicked deflection.

For the second week running Aaron Newman was on the scoresheet as he increased the visitors' advantage and then Rob Smith ended a barren spell without scoring by making it three from an acute angle.

The second half was goalless for a long period, with the ball in the air for much of the time, but Rangers made it four when Josh Banks cracked home a 20 yard free kick.

Smith fed Fletcher for Cowick's fifth and Man of the Match Fraser West scored the sixth when he beat two defenders.

Ulleskelf grabbed a consolation goal near the end.

This Saturday, Cowick entertain Selby Olympia at Croda, kick off 10.30am.

Back to winning ways after cup loss

After disappointment at a semi-final knock-out at Methley in West Yorkshire last week, Howden Under 9s returned to winning ways at the Ashes against Wheldrake.

Playing two league games due to earlier cancellations, they made a superb start to game one with three goals in the first half from Max Holloway, Matthew Likely and Jamie Bancroft.

After the break Likely made it four in a comprehensive win, with the Man of the Match award going to Max Holloway.

And it went one better in the second game, with three more first half goals, Likely again on the mark with Bancroft scoring twice.

In the second half Ashley Holt scored a further two, this after Alex Haines was unlucky on a couple of occasions as well.

The Man of the Match on this occasion went to Matthew Likely.

And the Under 9s will be looking to build on this on Saturday when they face North Duffield.
