Back to winning ways
Goole Town Tigers U8s 1
Barlby 0
After losing their last two matches the Tigers knew they was going to have a tough game against the second placed Barlby side.
The first half saw both teams with chances to score and when Jamie Hunt fed a clean ball through to Liam Broughton and the ball went wide it was thought that no scores would be made in this half.
Then, with two minutes to go, a break from Goole saw Jay Sharman's shot saved, then on the rebound Broughton hit the post and on the second rebound Sharman made sure with a spot on hard shot.
In the second half repeated tackles from Jacob Holgate made the Tigers defence impenetrable to the opposition. Only one or two shots got through to Josh Geldard in goal who dealt with all very well.
Jordan Francis was introduced in the second half and his debut match in the first team was good, as usual he made a big impression repeatedly running from midfield to defence so fast when needed. Reece Kral was also a big part in Goole keeping a clean sheet. Man of the match was Jay Sharman.
Goole Town Under 8s 2, Barlby 1
In this match the second team, as always, played so well. Corey Brown had yet another superb match in defence and spent most of it on his own at the back.
It looked like being a scoreless first half, but then Liam Harvey went on to swiftly turn and hit the ball into the keepers area. As it curled into the corner of the net Goole's supporters were punching the air in delight. With seconds to go in the half Barlby slipped through and pulled level.
The second half was much of the same, with good work from Reece Milby, Ellis Pickard and Kean Noon. Jack Pepper made some super saves in this half keeping all out. Alexander Westwood and then Noon made ground and supplied a clean run for Harvey with about a minute to go, and his well hit effort gave the keeper no chance.
The Man of the Match for this game was Corey Brown.
