Under 16s in seventh heaven
York City U16s 0
Goole Town Girls 7
The 16s produced their best performance of the season to keep in touch with league leaders Doncaster Belles.
After weathering early pressure against the wind, Goole started to find their stride and looked dangerous on the counter attack, taking the lead when a defence-splitting pass from Megan Oldridge found Abbie Wilkinson, who finished well.
Goole could have gone further ahead, with Lucy Peet causing problems on the right.
The second half saw the visitors play their best football of the season, with quality goals scored. Abbie Wilkinson finished with a hat-trick, Elley Mcglynn scoring two, including a brilliant individual effort, Nisa Wakefield on her 16th birthday scoring with a left foot thunder bolt and Oldridge finishing off from a brilliant four-player move.
For Goole the back four of Amy Quantick, Leesa Pinkney, Poppy Bulmer and Becky Walker all had strong games, especially against a fierce wind in the first half, and the midfield pair of Lauren Lofthouse and Wakefield were outstanding not giving York any time on the ball.
York return to Goole for the semi final of the shield at the Cricket club. kick off 2pm.
Goole Town Girls U14s 2 Bradford City 3
Being two points behind and a game in hand, Goole needed to win this to remain third in the league, also looking for a 'double'.
Goole started well, with Kirstie Nicholls and Jessica Tait going close.
It was a forceful run that saw Tait fouled just inside the Bradford half, the result being a free kick that was superbly taken by Demi Hadwin, which found the Bradford net.
However, it wasn't long before the visitors were back in contention, a shot hitting the post and finding the back of the net.
Bradford were quick on the break, shooting well from distance, and one such effort put the visitors ahead after 20 minutes.
Jess Tait levelled in an exciting first half, a well-struck shot fired past the Bradford keeper towards half time.
The second half saw Brenna Hood introduced in place of Eleanor Martin, with Georgia Whitney replacing Sacha Cutts.
Goole were pinned back for long periods, and the visitors continued to attack, with Lorna Pinkney kept busy between the posts.
The scores remained level until 25 minutes into the second half, when Goole's luck ran out. Bradford were awarded a direct free kick from the edge of the area after the Goole keeper was judged to have stepped outside when kicking out of hand.
The free kick was well stuck, and gave the visitors the lead, one they kept until the final whistle.
Hessle Rangers U12s 0, Goole Town Girls 1
Goole travelled to Hessle Rangers in a confident mood.
They took command from the opening whistle, the first attack seeing Whitehead, Thorn and Hind combine, ending with the keeper pulling off a good save from Wilson.
Goole dominated midfield, with Pinkney and Raywood linking well, and they were seldom troubled in the first half.
The second half was a similar story to the first, with Goole having much of the play. The breakthrough finally came when a poor goal kick found Thorn, who ran on to slot the ball past the oncoming keeper.
Pinefleet Wolfreton U10s 10, Goole Town Girls 1
A poor performance by Goole at Pinefleet saw one of the heaviest defeats of the season.
Slow to the ball and a distinct lack of aggression made the task easier for the home side.
Goole are playing a year under age, but they have played far better this season and must start taking on the things they have learned if they are going to make any impression in their last few games.
Pinefleet showed more idea and passed the ball better, whereas the Goole side were mainly creating their own problems.
The one bright spark for Goole was a lone run and finish in the second half by Katie Dennis.
Such moments were few and far between.
Pinefleet scorers were: Jamie Knight (4), Hanna Wood (3), Sophie Arnold (2), and one from Saffon Lowsley.
