The Verm took a giant stride to the Premier Division title in the Goole Pool Winter League last Wednesday evening with a totally unexpected 9-1 demolition of Shipmates.

Kev Harrison's side won the opening three frames before Shipmates tried to get a foothold in the game by pulling one back as Scott Walker beat Darren Hodgson, but that was to be their only success, as they were soundly beaten. The might of Hurson, Swan. Vause and Pettican was simply too much.

Chris Pollard was the Man of the Match in a game that ended all square, five frames each between the top of the table Middle House Mavericks and Creykes Tigers, whilst Andy Thompson starred for Buchanan Badstars in their 6-4 win over Packet HasBeens.

Viking Wizards had Rich Hunter to thank for their 7-3 triumph over Peacock Pirates and Neil Oldridge stood out for NUR Clubbers, who defeated Vic Con-Vics 6-4.

The NUR Neanderthals are top of Division One after a magnificent performance against closest rivals Bottom House Hunters, who had no answers in a 9-1 loss where Neil Kirby, Rob Fallon, Pete Gregory, Adam Walsh and Lee Fallon were too good.

Shipwrecks did well to beat Marshland Menaces 8-2, but a first win of the season still eludes Packet Panthers, who narrowly lost 6-4 to the consistent Middle House Massive.

There was a cracking match between Marshland Wanderers and Vermuyden Vultures, which rightly ended all square with Danny Collins the star man.

With an emphatic 8-2 win over the Bottom House Brigade, Royal Predators are at the head of affairs in Division Two with Jake Modi and Tim Wild showing fine skills in their frames.

Half Moon from Reedness proved far too good for Charter BacktoFronts and rightfully won 8-2 after exhibition play from Andy Leeman and Liam Cooper.

The clash of the two ladies' teams within the league gave both sides the chance of their first victory of the season and the Charter Cheddars appeared to be doing fine at 5-3 to the good, but sterling play from the Middle House Lasses saw them fight back for a draw.
