The 2008 New Year Triathlon saw nine hardy members of the Goole club take their, now traditional dip in the river Derwent.

Add to that a wind- and rain-swept cycle ride from the Barmby Barrage to Goole Town Cricket Club and then a lap of the town on foot, and it gives you the annual 'Goole Chiller'.

Actually, the course took on a different guise from the one in August.

Do not let the first event of the season put anyone off! Run non-competitively, it starts the year's calendar, which is expanding slowly.

They have two more events in 2008, for on March 9 there is an indoor swim at Goole Leisure Centre and then in August, an outdoor one.

Thanks to Janet for the hot stew on New Year's Day and to Goole Town Cricket Club for their enduring support.
