Increasing demand for busy club

Published on 28th December 2007 in Sport

Ever-increasing demand for polo lessons and gift packages at White Rose Polo Club, which is based at North Cliffe in East Yorkshire, has prompted the club to join forces with two on-line firms specialising in gift experience days.

The club already offers a wide range of lessons and taster sessions which people can book as exciting and novel gifts for friends and family members, i.e. birthdays, anniversaries, but this latest development will enable people across the country to treat someone to a polo experience day - at the click of a mouse!

The popularity of polo-themed gifts is further evidence of the sport's rapid growth in the Yorkshire region.

Although the 2007 season was its first, White Rose Polo Club has already attracted a dedicated following among local people. Its summer tournaments were well attended, membership has grown rapidly, and more and more people are taking the opportunity to try the sport for themselves by booking a taster session or lesson.

The gift experience days enable newcomers to the sport to learn the basic skills under the watchful eye of the club's HPA-qualified (Hurlingham Polo Association) coach Tony Wesche. There will then be an opportunity for them to put what they have picked up into practice on one of the club's well-trained polo ponies.

Hedley Aylott, the club's chairman, explained: "Polo lessons and gift packages have proved extremely popular with people of all ages and abilities, including those who have never ridden before; we even take bookings for children's parties. I think it's probably one of the coollest Christmas gifts you could buy someone, as it's a fantastic opportunity for people to try the game of polo for themselves.

"Polo is a game that everyone can play and people are often amazed at how quickly they can progress.

"By linking up with 'Thanks Darling' and 'Days to Amaze' we have been able to offer some really exciting gift packages that are sure to make a welcome Christmas gift for anyone who fancies giving polo a try."
