Confident victory away from home

Selby Olympia U13s 0

Cowick Rangers U13s 3

Another win for Cowick Rangers, who eventually won comfortably from their game at Selby Olympia on Saturday.

Rangers created plenty of early openings, and should have made the game safe by half time, but they were denied by an excellent display from the home keeper.

Eventually Rangers did break through when Josh Banks fed Nicky Fletcher, who calmly slotted it past the keeper.

The second half started in similar fashion, but they couldn't find the second goal.

Olympia's strike force started to find one or two gaps, but the returning Kevin Moles and Man of the Match Joe Westerman made it difficult for them to get a sight of goal, and the visitors' patience was rewarded with a second goal as Banks cut inside to beat a defender and net from an acute angle.

And Fraser West rounded off a good morning's work with a third as he raced clear to shoot home past the keeper.

This Saturday Rangers entertain Selby Town at Croda, kick off 10.30am.

Thorpe Utd 1

Howden Town U9s 0

After last week's 1-1 draw against Pontefract S&S last week travelled to league leaders Thorpe Utd this week.

Howden knew they would have to perform well against a team who are unbeaten this season. Despite being outmatched in terms of size, Howden played superb football and showed that Thorpe did not possess the passing skills that Howden work so hard at.

Thorpe took the early lead from a corner but Howden kept their heads up and never gave up.

Howden looked close to scoring in the last few minutes of the first half but despite some great efforts could not score.

The second half saw both teams under pressure with Hollerback strong in defence. Holloway made some great runs down the wing and Haines made some critical saves.

Howden always looked the better side and were unlucky not to get at least a draw. This match is their only loss of the season so far and they remain second in the league.

Man of the Match was Cavan Butler-Jinks for solid defending.

The second match again saw Thorpe take an early lead. Holloway, in goal, made some great saves but Thorpe managed to score again at the start of the second half.

A penalty was awarded to Howden for a Thorpe hand-ball which was duly put away by Haines. Thorpe finished the game by scoring again before the final whistle.

Man of the Match was Jack Hall for good defending.

Next fixture at home to Barlby on December 15.
