South Cave Jun. 'A' U12s 4

Goole Town Girls 5

Goole made the trip to South Cave with a much-improved performance, fighting for the ball on every occasion.

South Cave had a goal disallowed in the early minutes. This spurred the visiting team on to score their opening goal when a corner by Hind was cleared to the edge of the box for Pinkney to place her shot past the keeper.

The game was end to end, with Goole's keeper Smith making the second goal, controlled well by Thorn, who brushed aside the home defender and slotted the ball past a helpless keeper just before the half-time whistle.

The second half saw South Cave score twice in quick succession before Goole got back into their stride.

The Goole defence of Clark, Fox and Hassleman, often outnumbered, coped well and could do nothing to stop the home side going ahead.

Goole had the in-form Pinkney to thank for the equaliser when she played a through ball for Thorn to score her second.

Thorn went on to complete her hat-trick after a throw was knocked on by Raywood into the path of Thorn, who shot into the bottom corner.

South Cave never gave up and were rewarded five minutes from time with a well-worked goal.

Goole were refused a certain penalty in the final minute but, with seconds remaining, another great run by Whitehead resulted in a throw-in taken quickly by Wilson for Thorn to score the winning goal and her fourth of the match.

Farsley Celtic 1

Goole entertained Farsley Celtic in front of a good crowd, and some sunshine and a fine playing surface provided a good opportunity for the girls to show how they continue to progress as a team this season.

The visitors lost their keeper in warm-up and credit must go to their stand-in keeper, who had a good game despite the non-stop pressure from the first whistle.

Kirstie Nicholls opened her scoring tally, which was to become a double hat-trick on the day, with a strong run through the middle of the park, and finished nicely.

Some good play down the right-hand side followed, with Brenna Hood using her usual strong physical presence to provide good crosses, as well as having several attempts on goal of her own.

A delightfully-played reverse pass and through ball from Jess Tait set Nicholls up for her second of the day, and the home side continued to play well in all areas of the park, with new girls Laura Theaker and Sasha Cutts integrating themsleves into the team in a good way.

Goole's third and Nicholls' hat-trick was a great team effort, requiring only four passes from defence to goal.

The second half saw Farsley continue to battle, their efforts being rewarded after only a couple of minutes with a goal to pull the scoreline back to 3-1.

Both sides played good football, with Goole on top, and a great run from Sophie Howard down the left-hand side, followed by a great pass, put Kirsty Nicholls on goal again, resulting in the fourth goal of the day.

The fifth was scored by Eleanor Martin, her first for the club. The opportunity came after another good effort by Charlotte Phillips, saved by the Farsley keeper Martin, who followed up the rebound to bury the ball in the net.

Farsley continued to put pressure on Goole, but were caught all too easily on the break with the pace of an on-form Kirstie Nicholls, who went on to score another two goals before the final whistle.

This was a good team performance, with all the girls playing well. Next week's league encounter is against local rivals York City, a match everyone is looking forward to.
