Barlby Raiders 1

Goole Town Tigers U8s 0.

The Tigers U8s travelled to Barlby to take part in what could be the most thrilling football match of the season in the Selby under 8s league.

This game was always going to be very close as both teams can field a strong side.

The Tigers looked like winning, with the strikes coming thick and fast from Liam Broughton, Jay Sharman and Reece Kral.

Barlby kept counter-attacking, but Josh Geldard was in form.

With ten seconds left in the second half, and all thinking it was to be a goalless draw, the Barlby boys hit a surprise strike and the ball deflected off one of the Goole defenders to put them 1-0 down.

Head coach Dale Noon was said to be very proud of his team, though, afterwards. The following two friendly games were also close fought but Barlby won both, although Goole did manage a goal in each.

Summary: Game 1 (League Match) Tigers lost 1 - 0. Game 2 (Friendly) Tigers lost 3 - 1; scorer, Corey Brown, and Game 3 (Friendly) Tigers lost 4 -1; scorer, Reece Kral.

Outstanding player was Jacob Holgate.
