Rangers maintained their fast start to the new Goole and District Sunday League season with a 4-1 win against NUR on Sunday morning.

The scoreline doesn't show that they also missed a hatful of chances as well after taking the lead on 20 minutes with a shot from the edge of the area by Neil Huntington.

NUR took advantage of the chances missed to equalise, however the second half was to see the visitors take the game by the scruff of the neck.

It did take them until a quarter of an hour from the end to regain the lead when Chris Costello's long throw was headed home by Huntington for his second of the morning.

Gary Jones then made the game safe with a powerful shot after good work by Lee Thompson, and Jones made it 4-1 when he was on the end of a Jason Gibbon cross.

A battling performance from NUR, who never gave up but apart from that first half equaliser, keeper Tim Lawson was seldom troubled.

The Mansfield Brewery Man of the Match for Rangers went to Jason Greaves.

This Sunday, Rangers entertain George Renegades at Western Road, kick off 10.30am.

George R'gades 1 Vikings 3

A windy Sunday morning at West Park saw a depleted George Renegades entertain the Vikings.

Morale was high in the George camp after a well earned victory against Rawcliffe the previous week, however, they were always going to be against it facing a strong Vikings side.

The Renegades rode their luck in the opening exchanges, but went one-nil up against the run of play thanks to a strike from the dangerous Dave O'Donnell.

Vikings continued to pile pressure on a resilient George defence in search of an equaliser which came shortly before half time when Ashley Lattimore found himself one on one with the keeper and slotted home.

The second half saw much of the same with the Vikings having the majority of the possession, but the Renegades battling well and working hard in a bid to hold on to a point.

Two goals in five minutes from Tom Bryan ended George's hopes and secured a Vikings victory. The first a fluke corner that caught the wind and looped into the far corner, the second a well taken header from a long ball that lobbed George keeper James Hewson.

The Suds Laundromat Man of the Match went to James O'Donnell on his return in George colours.
