Brayton 'A' 1, Howden Town U9s 1

Howden travelled to Brayton in their first league match of the season.

They took the lead with a strike from Holloway, and looked superior on the ball and in their passing throughout the first half.

After the break, the home side retaliated and equalised, and they a;always looked a more physical outfit so credit Howden for a good point, which may even have been more.

The Howden Man of the Match went to James Beevers.

In the second game Brayton took their chances and Howden didn't especially in the first half where they found themselves two goals down.

After half time they rallied, but a third goal for Brayton put the match beyond them despite a penalty consolation from Man of the Match, Matthew Likely.

Their next fixture is against Whitley Wolves .

Howden U10 7, South Milford 0

Howden started their new season off with an impressive 7-0 victory over South Milford. Some good football was played by both sides but to be fair Howden look the stronger team by far.

A well deserved win for Howden and a superb team performance.

Howden goalscorers, Oscar Barnes (2) Charlie Stead (4) and Ben Raywood.

The second game was a little closer with South Milford taking a one goal lead into the second half until Jordan Holliday equalised from outside the box with Joe Fryer scoring the winner to leave Howden claiming a 2-1 victory.

Howden Town Under 8s 11, Wheldrake 0

Howden Town under-8's got their season off to a flying start by beating Wheldrake 11-0, with goals from Watson (3), Phillips (3), Jones (5), Stead and Hancock also defended well when called upon.

A great deal of credit must go to the Wheldrake players whom, despite the score, played very well.

Garforth U11s 1, Goole Town Tigers U11s 8

Goole Town Tigers made a great start in their 2007-2008 league campaign with a convincing win at last year's Division Two champions.

Both teams started brightly, but the young Tigers squandered early chances to go in front and it was Garforth who scored first on 10 minutes with their first chance of the game finishing well.

Goole instantly replied with a brave close range header from Connor Law to equalise , then the young Tigers came to life with a flourish of goals, one from defender Oliver Groves, four from a great performance by forward Jake Campbell, finishing well and chasing and pursuing every ball, and then after a foul in the box, Ryan Bonser scored with a great penalty into the bottom corner giving the Garforth keeper no chance.

Tigers defender Oliver Groves grabbed his second with a well struck long range shot to hit the back of the net and take the goal tally to eight, which in fairness could have been more as the Tigers midfield controlled the bulk of the play and worked hard all match.

Man of the Match medals was awarded to Jake Campbell and Oliver Groves for their efforts on the day. Well played!!!!!

Barlby Raiders U13s 1, Cowick Rangers U13s 7

Rangers put last week's home defeat behind them with a sparkling win at Barlby on Saturday.

They were ahead after three minutes with a superb goal from Liam Stainforth, and although the home side got back on terms quickly, that was to be the only time that the visitors had any real problems.

With the midfield starting to get a stranglehold they regained the lead with a goal by Nicky Fletcher, and they increased their lead with two further goals before half time as Fletcher scored his second after good work by Smith and Frazer West netted well.

Cowick used their substitutes after the break, and they settled into the side well with West scoring his second and Cowick's fifth with one of the replacements, Parkin adding number six after a fine one-two.

As the match drew to a finish, there was just time for West to complete a deserved hat-trick to complete the perfect all round performance.

This Saturday, Rangers entertain Carlton Cannons at Croda, kick off 10.30am.

Viking Raiders U14s 5, Wold Tigers U14s 2

Viking Raiders got off to a winning start in their first game of the season, against Wold Tigers on Sunday morning in the Hull Boys Sunday Football League.

Ryan Braithwaite opened the scoring for Raiders, Coleton Lockwood and Luke Jacobs with a brace a piece, a solid team performance, giving the young Vikings an emphatic victory.

A confident debut in goal from Jamie Hughes took the Man of the Match award.
