THE SECOND Goole Triathlon of 2007 is rapidly approaching on Sunday week, August 19.

The closing date for entries and your payment of £15 is SATURDAY, AUGUST 11, forms available from Julian Read Jewellers or Goole Cricket Club, or for further details, call Andy on 07999-085014 or Rick on 07966-507243.

A swim of 600 metres, which starts at Wressle, is followed by a seven-mile cycle ride and a two-mile run, which will see the event finish at Goole Cricket Club.

For the swim, which starts at 1pm with competitors going off at one-minute intervals, swimming goggles are recommended, hats useful to preserve body temperature, and wetsuits are at the discretion of the competitor.

In theory conditions should not be as cold as the New Year Day's event, but these are instructions from the organisers.

The cycle discipline is from the bankside 100 metres before Loftsome Bridge to the Ferryboat Inn, negotiating the road towards Howden Spur and back to the riverside venue where marshalls will be on hand to assist with leaving the bikes etc.

Then the run takes in Boothferry Bridge, the bank to Holland House and then down the old hospital path to the cricket club.

In the interests of all, it is essential that care is taken in all disciplines, and organisers ask that particular care is taken crossing the road at Holland House on Westfield Banks.

Good luck!
