The second Goole Triathlon of the year takes place on Sunday, August 19 and there are still places up for grabs for the three-discipline challenge.

The event consists of a swim in the river Derwent near Wressle and then a cycle ride to the Ferryboat Inn near Boothferry Bridge before a run to the finish along Westfield Banks, eventually culminating in a shower and refreshments at Goole Cricket Club.

The closing date for entries is August 11, and although in theory the weather should be better than the New Year's Day event, there are still precautions to be taken i.e. goggles are recommended for the swim, and care should be taken crossing the road at Holland House at the end.

Further details can be obtained from Andy on 07999-085014 or Rick on 07966-507243 or alternatively you can pick up an entry form and pay £15 at Julian Read Jewellers or Goole Town Cricket Club.

The Triathlon starts at 1pm with a 600-metre swim.

Good luck!
