Mixed weekend of racing for Adam
A mixed weekend of racing for local rider Adam Child as he took two victories, but was forced off the track several times.
The day couldn't have started any worse as Chad suffered a blown front tyre on the fastest part of the track on his www.theFSD.com sponsored Suzuki GSXR600 and was lucky to escape unscathed.
He then tried to qualify for the Sound of Thunder class on a kindly loaned KTM but he managed only one lap as the bike suffered an electrical fault.
However, the local rider rode hard on this Ken Urwin-supplied Suzuki and, despite starting from the back, he took a shock race win. But Lady Luck wasn't on Chad's side as the gearbox blew in the second race, forcing him onto the grass at 130mph. He was pushing hard and recording his fastest lap of the race just before the gearbox blew.
Later in the day the www.theFSD.com sponsored rider took the KTM990 to a race win first time out in the Sound of Thunder class.
Chad told the Goole Times: "It was such an odd day's racing: one minute I was on the grass, into the tyre wall, then in the next race I managed another race win.
"I'm gutted the Suzuki broke down, but to be honest it's a standard bike and has been thrashed to bits. I have to say sorry to Ken Urwin Motorcycles for breaking their bike. I was just testing the KTM ready for the support race at the British GP this weekend, so I was surprised to take a race win.
"The upcoming KTM race is the biggest race of my life and without everyone's help up until now it wouldn't be possible, so I have to give a massive thanks to everyone who has helped me up until now, family, friends and of course my sponsors."
Chad will be racing at in the support race for the British GP this coming weekend, and then at Elvington on July 22.
Right, Chad in action. (21-06-30 SU)
