In Division One, joint leaders Fishlake maintained their fine start to the season with a nine-wicket success against Airmyn. Richard Stevens made a solid 39 for Airmyn despite a tight spell of bowling from Mason, taking one wicket but conceding only 11 runs in his five-over spell. The target was overtaken easily by Fishlake, though, as P. Roper with 33 and M. Mason 35 ensured victory in 20 overs.

Defending champions Askern seem to be finding the going far tougher this year as they went down to defeat to another of the joint leaders Goole Town Academy by 10 wickets. Askern were restricted to a disappointing 80, with only Michael Stuart showing any aptitude for the contest, making 28 of the runs. Nicky Holah took 3-18 from his five-over spell and Rob Jacobs 3-23.

Goole reached the target after only seven overs, with Stephen Hicks making an unbeaten 61.

Luddington also joined Fishlake and Goole at the top thanks to a 39 run success against Hensall.

Graham Clark made 32, ably assisted by the big-hitting Andy Lawson, fresh from a weekend ton who reached 23 before he was out with the total on 89. Richard Wroot returning to the side from Askern then made 47 as Luddington finished their innings on 145 -7.

Hensall's reply got off to a poor start but with lively contributions from Adam Thornton with 34 and Geoff Thornton with an undefeated 23 not out, Hensall were able to finish on 106 for 6 at the close, some 39 runs short of their target. Pick of the bowlers was Mark Coulman, who went for just 6 runs off his fivr overs and picked up a wicket for good measure.

Performance of the day was indisputably that of Drax, who made 176-2 to defeat Sykehouse by 22 runs.

Former Carlton Towers captain Mark Holmes capped an all-round performance by making a sublime unbeaten century of 113 and took 3-22 in his five-over spell. He was assisted by Kevin Thomas, who fell just short of a half century making 46, the pair enabling their side to reach 176-2.

In reply Sykehouse, currently in the wooden-spoon position, made a challenging 154 despite the loss of seven wickets. Phil Sanders hit 27 and there were also useful contributions from P. Harvey who made 46 and I. McGarry with an undefeated 34. M. Atkinson also took 3-34.

Drax II secured their first success in the League so far thanks to a success against Eggborough by nine wickets. Eggborough made 113-7 despite the efforts of Lawson who took 4-11, whilst Drax cruised to victory with Edwards making an undefeated 53.

A report on Howden town's game with Hirst is on page 70.
