East Riding County League round-up

Holme Rovers 1, Viking Raiders 3
The newly-named Viking Raiders started their season well with a fine win at Holme-on-Spalding Moor on Saturday.
Due to a number of late withdrawals and no-shows, they travelled the short distance with just 12 players, and looked sluggish early in the game.
However, the visitors soon had a foothold in the game, Chris Lattimore with two half chances, but it was player-coach Jonny Brown who opened the account for the season, rifling home from the edge of the area after the hosts failed to clear their lines.
Holme tried to respond, but the new-look defence with Dale Gormley, Atkinson and Woodcock stood firm.
The home side equalised after hesitancy allowed the striker in to score, but Holme's joy was short-lived as minutes later Raiders were back in the lead.
Matt Walker's pace caused problems down the left side, and after good work from Lattimore, Jonny Brown found the roof of the net for his second.
Raiders made the game safe with ten minutes remaining, Ashley Lattimore racing from the halfway line, coolly rounding the keeper and slotting the ball home.
This Saturday sees the first round of the League Senior Cup, with a home tie against Northfield Athletic of Cottingham. Players to meet at Western Road for 1pm.
AFC Charter 3, FC Ridings 2
AFC Charter started their season in controversial fashion with victory over FC Ridings at Parkside on Saturday.
The home side made a lively start with two early goals through new signings Thompson and Butler.
An emphatic victory looked on the cards until Jason Gibbon was shown the red card for the home side after Ridings pulled a goal back when Charter's players had stopped waiting for the assistant to retrieve a ball that had gone out of play.
Play continued with another ball and, as the goal was scored and counted, Gibbon showed his frustration at his opponents.
The Charter rolled up their sleeves a man short, and a 30-yard volley by Blanchard restored their two goal lead before the break.
The second half saw Charter in control initially, but the longer the game went the harder it became for the 10 men, a case not helped by injuries to Thompson and Gill.
Ridings pulled a goal back just before full time with stand-in keeper Lockwood beaten, but they held on for the win. Rob Butler and Danny Collins won the respective Referee's and Managers' Man of the Match vote.
This Saturday they travel to Skidby Millers. All players to meet for 12.30pm in the car park at the rear of the Charter Club. Anyone unavailable contact Dave Munday or Rod.
Reckitts Reserves 5, Howden Amateurs 6
Howden Amateurs Firsts travelled to Reckitts for their opening game of the Premier Division season.
With five players missing from their squad, and a makeshift defence, Howden looked to be in trouble as they conceded two sloppy goals early on.
Craig Gorman halved the deficit with a neat finish, but within minutes they were 3-1 down.
A second goal for Gorman and a speculative 30-yard effort from Nick Thompson, which deceived the Reckitt's keeper, meant the teams were all square at the break.
Howden started the second half well, and took the lead for the first time in the game from a free kick headed in at the back post. Gorman rounded the keeper to complete a hat-trick, and quickly followed it with his fourth of the game to make it 6-3 to Howden.
Two late goals by the home side made for a frantic end to a remarkable game with Howden's shaky defence holding on.
Howden Town 5, Patrington Stanley 1
Howden Town started their new County League season with a winning start in a 5-1 victory over visitors Patrington Stanley United Reserves.
The team led at half-time, but conceded an early goal at the start of the second half. However, Howden rallied to complete a relatively comfortable victory. Howden's goals came from Steve Whur (2), Mike Whur, Rich Brankin and a debut goal from Dave Hodgson.
The newly-formed Reserves travelled to face Skirlaugh Reserves, and took an early lead through a Danny Wilson penalty.
Skirlaugh equalised midway through the half, and things got worse after half time when they fell behind.
Howden refused to give up, and a second penalty, this time from debutant Ronnie Calvert levelled matters.
With several new faces, Howden showed a terrific spirit and were rewarded when a good run by Rob Bostock saw him cross for Ryan Ramsker to fire home a very late winner. The club wish to thank Julie and Darren at Bojangles for their continued support and sponsorship.
