Goole Girls cool on the ice

Farsley 0, Goole Town Girls U15s 5
Kick off was delayed due to a frozen pitch, and even when the game did get under way, conditions were far from ideal at Farsley.
Despite having the majority of possession, it took the visitors twenty minutes to break the deadlock with Lucy Peet finding the corner with a good shot and shortly after following impressive work by Naomi Chadwick, a defender got the final touch for an own goal to put Goole two goals up.
The introduction of Megan Oldridge saw her astute pass lay on a second of the day for Peet.
Any Farsley threat was snuffed out by a determined Poppy Bulmer in defence well supported by Lauren Lofthouse and Becky Walker.
Goole continued to dominate proceedings after half time but found the home keeper in good form, but eventually two goals from Chadwick saw them home to a comfortable win, if not a vintage performance by the league leaders.
Amy Quantick impressed for Goole at right back.
Farsley Celtic U13s 3, Goole Town Girls U13s 3
Goole Under 13s staged an amazing fightback at Farsley on Saturday scoring twice in the final two minutes to secure a point.
Despite being under strength, Goole took the lead through Kirstie Nicholls, but were clearly showing signs of rustiness after a long lay off without a competitive fixture.
With players out of position, and Farsley a well organised outfit, it was clearly going to be a struggle.
And the home side promptly turned the game round to lead 3-1 and could have made it four when the ball appeared to cross the line only for it to be unseen by the referee.
And that gave the visitors the chance to fight back with Nicholls bursting through to make it 3-2, and in the final minute Jessica Tait scored the equaliser.
Charlotte Phillips did well in an unaccustomed position with Demi Thomas the pick of the midfield, and goalkeeper Lorna Pinkney did well in the second period.
Goole face league leaders York City at Vermuyden School this weekend.
