Diamond wedding celebrations

Published on 30th November 2006 in News

A couple from Gilberdyke are planning a 'sparkling' celebration for today (Thursday) - 60 years to the day since they tied the knot.

George and Gwen Scott (the two G's, as George put it) met in Norfolk at a Methodist Church youth club when Gwen was just 12.

George propose when she was 18 but Gwen turned him down. Four years later, though, she accepted a second proposal and the couple have now reached their diamond anniversary.

"The key is knowing what you want and going for it," said George.

Last week, they went to Kent for a family party, and today will have a meal with their daughter. (30-11-71 GT)
