Arts centre funding - decision due soon

Published on 30th November 2006 in News

Goole Town Council should know if they have more funding for the planned new arts centre by early next year.

Clerk Brian Robertson told councillors on Monday that Yorkshire Forward had invited the town council to make an outline bid as soon as possible.

Mr Robertson was unable to give figures but said it would not have to be approved by the full board, but by the executive board.

A decision is expected by March.

Charlie Studdy, the council's Arts and Leisure Manager, reported small alterations to plans for the arts centre, such as the stairs being moved closer to the door of the GTC offices on the first floor.

It has also been confirmed that 35mm film facilities will be used in the projection and control rooms, instead of digital projection. This is because very few mainstream films are available in digital format; 35mm facilities will also be cheaper.

Arrangements for carbon emissions have been classed as meeting the legal requirements.
