Prison life talk

Published on 30th November 2006 in News

Goole and District Women's Luncheon Club members held their November meeting at the Vikings Hotel. President, Mrs Ann Barber welcomed a new member and, after an excellent lunch, she introduced the speaker, Miss Veronica Bird O.B.E.

Miss Bird is a retired prison governor and she gave a very interesting and informative talk entitled "Mothers and babies in prison". The speaker began her career in the police force and then entered the prison service. She has worked in many prisons in this country and has also worked in a Russian prison, but that is the basis for another talk.

Mrs Barber expressed heartfelt thanks to Miss Bird for her time and the most interesting talk.
