The future of Brantano Footwear in Goole looks bleak after rumours that the store would re-open on the old Timms Mill site appear to have been unfounded.

The store, based on Wesley Square, closed for good last Thursday after the lease of the property was bought by Carpet Right.

The closure of the shop, which had occupied its present location for four years, saw all 10 staff made redundant.

It had been thought that Brantano UK were on the look-out for suitable new premises in the town, with the Boothferry Road site high on the list of potential contenders.

But according to a spokeswoman for Brantano UK, the rumours are fruitless. "I'm afraid we have no plans to search for new premises in Goole," she said.
