Drivers warned of police plan

Humberside Police are planning a month-long campaign to warn drivers of the dangers of getting behind the wheel whilst under the influence of drink or drugs.
The campaign begins on Friday, December 1 and runs into the new year. There will be high-visibility police patrols out on the region's roads, as well as roadside checkpoints to spot drivers who are potentially over the prescribed limit.
Ps Neil Fillingham, from Humberside Police Travel Management, said: "We are working in partnership with other agencies to raise the level of awareness amongst road users to the potential dangers of driving whilst impaired through alcohol or drugs."
Nearly one in seven of all road deaths involve drivers over the legal limit, but since 2001 there has been almost a year on year reduction in the numbers of people killed or seriously injured through drink driving, dropping from 33 in 2001 to 24 in 2005.
