A student from Snaith has come out on top after achieving one of the country's highest AS Graphic Design marks.

John Leggott College student Sally Hewitt (17) sat the graphic design qualification earlier this summer and out of the 2,074 candidates across the country she achieved one of the highest overall marks, which featured within the top ten nationwide.

Sally, a former pupil of The Snaith School, said: "I am very pleased to have done so well. I did spend quite a lot of time doing my graphics coursework and so it is great that it has all paid off. Graphic design is something I would like to continue studying at university so it is fantastic to get praised in this way for a subject I really like.

"A special thanks has to be paid to our teachers Bruce McDermott-Knight and Debs Theobald, who supported me through the AS."

Sally is joined by fellow John Leggott students Ryan Brown, Nicole Viner and Charlotte Wakefield, whose AS graphic design marks also made it into the top ten in the country, and Matthew Cory Smith, who excelled in A level Performing Arts.

College principal Nic Dakin said: "I am delighted that our students have done so well.

"My congratulations to students and staff for all their hard work and effort this academic year which has led to a stunning set of results and achievements within the top ten in the country."

The managing director for examiners Edexel, the UK's largest awarding body who are responsible for AS and A level qualifications among others, also commended the students' achievements saying: "This is a tremendous achievement and testament to the hard work students put into preparing for their exams."
