These old pictures were found by a married couple as they boxed up their belongings in preparation for moving home.

Anthony and Barbara Broughton found the pictures in boxes they were using to empty their house in preparation for their imminent move to Scarborough.

One is a photograph of the old Goole Amateurs AFC team during the 1919-20 season. The picture was taken at the Victoria Pleasure Grounds just after the First World War came to an end.

The other photo - a sepia-tinted image which is thought to have been taken at the turn of the century, or possibly even earlier - shows workmen at the old Goole Gas Works.

The two photos were in one of the boxes that Mr Broughton moved from his mother's home in Goole when she died two years ago.

Mr Broughton says he thinks the photos may have originally come from his grandfather's house in Weatherill Street in Goole.

Mrs Broughton said: "The photos were just boxed up and we came across these two."

Mr and Mrs Broughton would to know if anyone can put names to the faces of some of the men in the Goole Gas Works photo. Anyone with information can call the Goole Times on 01405 720110.
