A new vehicle safety campaign has been launched in Goole and the surrounding areas following a rise in vehicle crimes.

The Neighbourhood Policing Teams for Goole, Howden, Howdenshire, Snaith, Airmyn. Rawcliffe and Marshlands have launched the 'Vehicle Safe' campaign to make the public more aware of vehicle safety.

People are asked to be vigilant and report to the police if they see anything unusual or suspicious particularly early in the morning or late at night.

The campaign has also warned people not to leave valuables including handbags, wallets, credit cards or laptops on display when leaving a vehicle unattended.

It is also important to make sure vehicles are equipped with safety steering locks and if possible have an alarm fitted.

The campaign also urges people to use garages if possible to keep their vehicles in at night.

Anyone who spots anything suspicious or unusual should contact the police on 0845 60 60 222.

The Goole, Howden, Howdenshire, Snaith, Airmyn, Rawcliffe and Marshlands 'Vehicle Safe' campaign runs until October 1.
