Grand opening of new children's centre
The 10th East Riding Children's Centre is opening in Brough and parents, carers and children are invited to celebrate with a family fun day.
The launch is on Saturday September 6 from 10am to 2pm at the centre which is based on the same site as Brough Primary School in Springfield Avenue.
The theme of the open day will be "When I grow up I want to be..." and children will be able to take part in various free activities including circus workshops, smoothie-making sessions, face painting, plate making activities and a playbus.
The children's centres are being launched to provide support to families with children under five. At the fun day there will be a number of of local service providers and voluntary groups including Jobcentre plus, Families Information Service Hub (FISH) and the health visiting team attending with information stalls.
Caroline Mertens, children's centre co-ordinator, said: "We are looking forward to meeting the parents, carers and children while showcasing some of the new services and activities that will be available at the Brough Children's Centre and outreach venues from the autumn."
With ten children centres already open in the East Riding, which provide access to information about local childcare and early years education, health services as well as family support and outreach, job and training opportunities for parents, there are plans to open several more in the region later in the year including one at Howden.
