Howden's own tenor Steven Goulden will be joined by singing soprano Emma Dennis for Goole Parish Church's fundraising concert 'September Serenade'.

The duo, accompanied by the church's choirmaster and organist Paul Thompson, will perform an array of songs, arias and duets from the worlds of musical theatre, opera and operetta, as well as well-known love songs.

The concert is part of an ongoing effort to raise funds for the restoration of the church organ, the sound of which at present is compromised by the age and state of its mechanism.

'September Serenade' will also be the inaugural concert for the magnificent grand piano, which has been kindly and permanently loaned by the former Christ Church in Goole.

As well as performing together, Steven and Emma, from South Wales, enjoy solo careers in the worlds of opera, recital and oratorio, working with some of the world's finest conductors.

They have recently returned from a successful tour of Northern Ireland and during 2007/8 the duo also embarked on a national tour of the UK's regional theatres and concert halls with their hit productions 'Music of the Night', 'A Night at the Proms', and 'The Sound of Christmas', selling out many dates and returning to venues due to popular demand.

Paul Thompson has enjoyed the role of organist at Goole Parish Church for over 25 years, playing countless Sunday services, weddings and funerals during his time. Mr Thompson, who is well-known throughout the district for his musical talent, is also the musical director of the Goole Choral Society.

'September Serenade' will be at Goole Parish Church on September 6 from 7.30pm.

Following the concert there will be a reception in the church hall with a buffet and an opportunity to meet the performers.

Tickets for the concert and reception cost £10 and available only in advance as numbers are limited (last available date is September 3). Tickets for the concert cost just £7 and are available in advance or pay at the door.

Ticket Hotlines: 01430 430527; 01405 763869; 01405 765987; 07743 448123.
