Dancer in final auditions for new Disney show
A local teenager is one step closer to stardom after auditioning for the Disney channel.
Kelly Taylor, of Snaith, has beaten more than 2,500 applicants who entered the 'Disney Channel's Talent Search 2008' to make it into the final 30 and now has to wait and see if she has secured a role on one of the children's channel's new programmes. After discovering the 'talent search' application on the internet, which called for a bright, friendly individual who loves being in front of the camera, Kelly (17) decided to apply and was invited to audition in Manchester on July 26.
At the audition she had to prepare a presentation to perform to the camera and be interviewed, obviously impressing the judges as she was called back for a second audition in Manchester before making it into the final 30 who attended a workshop in London.
At the workshop Kelly was given the celebrity treatment with a make-over and photo shoot but also had to put in some hard work learning new acting and presenting techniques.
Of her experience Kelly said: "I didn't want it to end because it was so fantastic. I wasn't nervous at all, it was more excitement as it was a big audition for the Disney channel."
There are six parts up for grabs on a new Disney show and Kelly now has to wait and see if one of them is hers.
Proud Mum Beverley said: "We are just waiting in anticipation to see what happens but we support her all the way."
Kelly has always had a long interest in performing and has been dancing since the age of five. She attends the Butterfly Dabnce Studio, where she trains in ballet, modern and musical theatre and has even auditioned for the X Factor.
Kelly is now studying for her A levels in drama, dance, English and media at John Leggott College and her ambition is to work in the show business industry in the future. "I want to do anything involving acting, dancing or singing as I enjoy all three and I love performing," she told the Goole Times.
Jean Rudge from the Butterfly Dance Studios said of Kelly's success: "We are all very proud and wish Kelly the best of luck and hope she is given one of the six roles.
"She is taking part in our summer school on August 28, which is a production of High School Musical 3 and will be auditioning for a lead role in that as well, so we will have to watch this space to see if she gets that also."
