Four youngsters from Goole are intending to walk round every street in Goole to raise money for their school.

Billy Brooks, Sam Kearns and Alex Ramskill, all 10, along with 11-year-old Joshua Robinson, will pound the streets of their home town as part of Humberside Police's Lifestyle Project, which was launched to keep youngsters occupied and in worthwhile activities during the summer holidays.

Youngsters who take part in the Lifestyle Project give themselves a chance of winning prizes such as trips abroad or days out at theme parks.

The four Goole boys, who all go to Parkside Primary School except Joshua, who is at Vermuyden, hope to cover as many of Goole's streets as possible, and ultimately all of them.

There are about 200 streets in total in Goole and the youngsters - who will be donning fancy dress for the walk - expect their initial foray to last four hours.

All the money raised from the sponsored walk - which will take place on August 30 - will be given to Parkside Primary as part of its bid to raise money for a new climbing frame.

The walk - in which some of the parents will also be taking part - will set off from Sam's mother's home on Jackson Street at 10am.

Billy's mum Claire Brooks said: "The aim is to do at least four hours but if they feel okay they could do even longer."

She added: "They're raising money for the school, which is trying to save enough money for a big wooden climbing frame."

The frame will cost about £12,000 and the school has so far saved about £8,000.

Three of the youngsters - Billy, Sam and Alex - have been washing cars this summer as part of the fundraising process and hope to raise about £150 through that.

They hope to present all the money to the school at the start of the new school term.
