Goole Times walks hand in hand with Rotarians
Staff at the Goole Times will be putting on their walking boots in a bid to help Goole Rotary Club in their latest quest to raise money for the Prostate Cancer Charity.
Rotarians have organised a six-mile sponsored dawn walk to be held on Sunday, September 14. It will begin at Goole Rugby Club and follow a route via Westfield Banks, through Hook and Goole and ending back at the Rugby Club. The walk will end with much-deserved bacon sandwiches and coffee.
Taking part are reporters Emma Franklin, Katie Smith, Lucy Leeson, Selby Post sub-editor Trudi McLoughlin and Selby Post advertising executive Christine Hewitt.
Reporter Katie Smith said: "This is a great way to raise some money for a good cause. I think people in Goole should step up and join us in doing something worthwhile!"
The event will begin at 7am and is not designed to be a race but an enjoyable walk which can be undertaken by the whole family.
The walk has the backing of the Prostate Cancer Charity and it is hoped that those taking part will raise sponsorship to provide much needed funds to allow the charity to continue to support the 35,000 men who are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year.
To sponsor the Rotarians or the Goole Times staff, please call in to the Goole Times offices and fill in the sponsor form on the front counter.
To find out more information about the dawn walk or to request a sponsorship form, please contact Rotarian Graham Hawksworth on 01430 430751, or call into the Goole Times offices.
