Nuisance burglar is jailed
A BURGLAR who has been making a nuisance of himself in Goole has been jailed.
Carl Kilding (35) burgled his ex-employer's tool store after being told he was not wanted - three days into a new job.
He returned after hours, entering a shipping container and stealing copper and electric power tools on May 22.
Hull Crown Court heard on Monday that Mr Kilding, an ex-con, returned the following day to pick up property he had left at work, only to get into an ugly scene where he was accused of theft.
Crown barrister David Cammies said Mr Kilding produced a knife and threatened people. Police were called to arrest him, but he continued being aggressive to police, kicking a door from inside a police car and causing it to buckle.
Mr Kilding, of Kent Road in Goole, told police he was not thinking straight when he went back to his employers having taken temazepam.
Mr Kilding, who was remanded in custody after the incident, pleaded guilty to a charge of burglary on May 22, affray on May 23, criminal damage and possession of a bladed article.
Defence barrister Robin Smith said Mr Kilding, who has previous convictions, had let everyone down. He said he was laid off despite being a good worker and had gone back to pick up his stuff when the affray happened. He said Mr Kilding now regretted his behaviour and was remorseful about what he had done.
He was jailed for a total of nineteen months.
