There was traffic chaos in Goole town centre last Thursday when a water main burst on Boothferry Road, just outside the Post Office.

Water gushed out of the road and as a result the tarmac cracked and collapsed.

The area of road affected had to be coned off to avoid danger to motorists and pedestrians until Yorkshire Water were able to send workmen to the site to repair the damage.

The repairs were delayed because due to the leak's close proximity to the railway lines, Yorkshire Water workers had first to consult Network Rail before emergency work could begin.

The repairs to the pipe began on Thursday and were completed by Friday evening.
