Popular planning event is back
East Riding of Yorkshire Council has organised an additional 'Planning For Real' training day for September 5 due to a high level of interest from the local community.
Previous training days, which took place on July 9 and 10, were attended by a broad cross-section of people who lived and worked in Goole. This included representatives from Humberside Police, local councillors and representatives from the Waterways Museum.
The aim of the 'Planning For Real' training days is to equip volunteers from the local community with skills needed to help host a series of 'Planning For Real' community consultations.
The community consultations events are planned for the coming months to give residents of all ages the opportunity to have their say on issues that affect Goole.
The planning For Real event is part of the wider Advance Goole project which aims to improve the quality of life for local residents, tackling some of the issues which concern them and also involve them in planning for a brighter future.
Year four, five and six pupils at Boothferry, Kingsway and Marshland Primary Schools have been busy constructing 3-D models to be used in the planning for real process.
Using the models the children will be encouraged to discuss issues which affect their community and feedback received from them will be used as part of the consultation process.
One of the models will also be on display at the Old Goole Gala on August 17, so residents can have a look and find out more about how they can get involved in the 'Planning for Real' event.
Cllr Paul Robinson, chairman of the Goole and Howden Local Area Action Team, said: "Planning For Real is a great way of getting residents of all ages to focus on the issues affecting their communities. The aim is to highlight issues of concern and trigger debate about how problems can be addressed to further improve the quality of life of local people. I hope that as many people as possible will take the opportunity to get involved and have their say."
