Goole's prospective MP Andrew Percy caught up with Shadow Cabinet Minister William Hague MP recently to discuss local issues.

The pair met whilst out campaigning for David Davis as part of last week's Howden by-election campaign.

Mr Percy said he was delighted to get the chance to spend time with the MP and update him on some key issues in the Goole area. "I was able to tell William just how concerned local people are about issues such as the cost of living, Labour's increases in fuel duty and also the future of Post Offices.

"We are especially concerned about the future of the Post Office Card Account which is vital to the future survival of many local Post Offices.

"I managed to meet with William Hague and many other Shadow Cabinet members on the campaign trail in the last few weeks and I made sure just how important Post Offices are to local people.

"I asked many of them to push the Government hard to ensure that the Post Office Card Account was renewed with the Post Office."

He added: "I also highlighted to them how hard the Goole Times had worked in highlighting the campaign to save those Post Offices in our area closed by Labour earlier this year." (17-07-53 SU)
