As part of Goole Local Action Week, Year Nine pupils at Vermuyden School have completed a 'Pimp my Bride' project, based on the MTV series Pimp my Ride, using recycled materials to produce a range of innovative bridal wear.

The mannequins demonstrate how scrap materials can be used in a creative way and they have now been located at Goole Library, the Courtyard and in the main school reception for people to view.

The Pimp my Bride project has resulted in students exploring ways in which they can develop the project further and they presented the idea based, on the successful ScrapStore initiative, in Hull at the 'Vermuyden's Den' event a week ago.

This event will see three groups of students put their potential businesses to the test. With coaching from teachers and local business people, the students will develop their basic business ideas into practicable business plans, the best of which will receive £500 funding from Wise Youth.

After a morning's presentation, the three groups will present their plans to a panel of 'dragons', which will include representatives from Hull and Humber Chamber of Commerce, BusinessLink Yorkshire and Goole Development Trust. The plan which the dragons identify as having the most potential for the 'real-world' success will win the funding and all the young people involved with gain advice from successful business people.
