At their meeting on Monday, June 23, the Rotary Club of Howden welcomed two guests from the Ebor Vale Group of the Riding for the Disabled Association, Jenny Greaves and Ken Darcy.

Retiring president Nick Varey presented Jenny and Ken with a cheque for £800 raised by the club at last year's Christmas carol event at Spaldington Hall. Rotn Varey took the opportunity to thank Ann Marie and David Jackson for hosting the event.

Whilst thanking Howden Rotary Club for the kind donation, Jenny and Ken explained that Ebor Vale RDA, which is based at Harswell near Holme on Spalding Moor, is solely responsible for meeting the group's running costs and hence the monies will be greatly appreciated.

After the presentation Rotn Varey handed the club presidency to incoming president Richard Parry. Whilst doing so, he reported that during his year as president the club had raised £12,000 for numerous good and charitable causes and thanked the members for their hard work and assistance.

In his acceptance Rotn Parry said that amongst his aims for his year as president he would be hoping to attract new members to the club and raise funds for worthwhile charitable causes, including Education in Africa.
