Firearms team swoop
A gun was fired on Pasture Road last week, resulting in an 18-year-old man being arrested.
The man was spotted on CCTV cameras last Wednesday at 11.40pm with what appeared to be a handgun in his possession outside Amigos takeaway.
CCTV operators alerted the police who immediately went to the scene, along with a firearms authority and armed response vehicles.
A man was arrested at the scene by police officers and nobody was injured as a result of the incident.
Brendan Gareth Davies (18), was subsequently charged with possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear or violence, possession of an imitation firearm in a public place and attempted robbery.
He appeared before magistrates last Friday, July 4. He was remanded in custody until tomorrow when he will appear at Hull Crown Court.
Sergeant Neil Coy, of Goole neighbourhood police team, said: "This is a great example of how the police and CCTV operators work together. A serious incident was brought under control quickly, thanks to the actions of the operators.
"The CCTV cameras in the town are there to protect local residents, they provide vital evidence and help with police inquiries. They act as a crime prevention tool and could deter potential offenders."
