Police are seeking witnesses to last week's road accident on the A645 at Drax that left a cyclist with serious injuries.

The collision occurred at 6.45pm on the evening of Tuesday, June 10 when a black Saab car was in collision with the cyclist.

The male rider sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision and was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary, where he remains in a critical condition.

Officers are appealing for a man who they believe witnessed the collision to come forward. He stopped at the scene and spoke to other people, saying that he had seen the collision in his rear view mirror while driving along the A645 towards the M62.

He is described as being in his early 20s, about six feet tall, slim with short, dark hair and spoke with a local accent. He was wearing a light blue formal work shirt with a navy-blue collar with a packaging firm's name written on the chest.

TC Richard Ellis, of the Central Area Road Policing Group, said: "It is vital that we make contact with this witness as we believe he could provide important information which could help the investigation.

"We would urge him to come forward, along with anyone else who witnessed the collision or saw the vehicles prior to the incident."

Anyone with any information should contact TC Ellis on 0845 60 60 247 extension 2334.
