A motorcyclist was taken to hospital after a two-vehicle collision on the M62.

The accident, which involved several vehicles, happened just before Junction 34 at about 3pm last Friday, June 13.

The motorcyclist, whose injuries were unspecified, was from the Liverpool area. He was taken to Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield and was kept in overnight for observation.

The motorcyclist was riding a Suzuki Bandit; the other vehicles involved included a Ford Focus. None of the other drivers was injured.

The accident happened on the westbound carriageway near West Cowick. Police and an ambulance crew arrived at the scene and officers closed a westbound section of motorway from Junction 35 as well as a northbound section of the M18 leading onto the M62.

A section of road from the Junction 7 sliproad on the M62 was also closed. The closures were in place for up to three hours.
