Goole and District Hospital is inviting members of the public to a special celebration day to mark the 20th anniversary of the opening of the site.

There will be fun for all of the family with children's rides, face painting, entertainment from local musicians and dancers, a tour of an operating theatre, and various games and stalls.

The event, which coincides with the 60th anniversary of the National Health Service, is being held on Saturday, July 5 between 1pm and 4pm at the Goole and District Hospital.

Site manager Dorothy Hulme, said: "The event is all about people coming along and celebrating with us the last 20 years of the hospital being open in Goole.

"The hospital is very much a part of the local community and as such we want to celebrate with local residents the last 20 years of being open and providing vital services for local people.

"The attractions are very much about having fun for all of the family - from the young to the old - and we hope that people will turn out on the day and join in the celebrations."

She added: "People will have the chance to have a look in an operating theatre and be able to find out about simple basic first aid techniques and healthy eating.

"Visitors will also have the opportunity of becoming a member of their Hospitals Foundation Trust and will be able to speak with governors about the ways in which local people can have a say on how their local hospitals are run."
